We are back in the UK for this month’s selection and I am featuring one of the most popular images in the portfolio from one of my favourite areas of the country – Wester Ross in Scotland.
Slaggan Bay is reached by a relatively flat 3-mile walk from a roadside starting point near Mellon Udrigle. Many years ago there was a small crofting community here. Some 50 or so years ago the last family moved away following the destruction of their property by fire. I have read that the beach is probably more famous as the “Queen’s beach” and was where Her Majesty came ashore by tender for beach picnics during her Western Island cruises aboard the Britannia. Although I can’t be certain that this is correct I suppose it is a possibility bearing in mind its remoteness.
Don’t forget that each image chosen will only be placed as Print of the Month once so if you like this particular image, buy it at the specially reduced price of 20% below normal prices (excluding postage) before the end of May. There is a choice of an A3 print which is a perfect fit when mounted for 20″ by 16″ frames which are readily available via the internet or high street stores OR a 12″ by 8″ mounted print in a 16″ by 12″ frame of your choice.
